About Blue Sweater Art
Blue Sweater Art is an online art store that provides fine art pet portraits and artfully enhanced products that are meant to reflect the wonder and playful side of animals.
Hi, my name is Chrissy. I am a professional in the IT industry by day, and an Artist by night…and whenever else I have time in my schedule. Blue Sweater Art began with the encouragement of family and friends to do something with my artwork other than filing it away. After my son went to college, I found myself needing something to fill my newly freed up time. I decided this would be a good time to launch my little shop.
What Kind of Art Do You Create?
What Makes Blue Sweater Art Special?
I think what makes Blue Sweater Art special is that this is a labor of joy, not a job. I have full time career that I like very much. So, I can do things a little bit differently than someone who may be relying on their business as their primary income. Blue Sweater Art is my passion project, and I have three primary goals:
- To continue to be creative with my art
- To create fun, useful, and lovely things that make people smile
- To use Blue Sweater Art as another means to help those in need
My operating model includes a commitment to give no less than 30% of all profits to a charity that helps animals and people. Both of our dogs, Dari and Lucy, were rescues, and I can say they have blessed our family - especially when you just need some company when things are tough! I research and select a charity for a period of time, provide a short bio on them, and a link to their web page. I report how customer purchases have contributed to these charities on my web page and in my SweaterLetter newsletters. Please see my Art that Loves page for more details on charities supported by Blue Sweater Art.
What Medium Do You Use?
These days I draw mostly on my Samsung tablet. I still have a treasure trove of colored pencils and paints, but as I am always busy, the convenience of the tablet (i.e., no set up or additional supplies needed) makes it my most used medium. You can see the progressive drawing video on my dog, Lucy here).
